moong dal | 2 tablespoon |
parboiled basmati rice | 100 gm |
toor daal | 50 gm |
aniseed | 2 teaspoon |
red chilli | 2 teaspoon |
crushed to paste ginger | 1 tablespoon |
curry leaves | 1 handful |
asafoetida | 1 pinch |
Refined oil | 1/2 cup |

Method
- Soak the parboiled rice for 60 minutes. Combine and soak the dals for 60 minutes.
- Drain well and combine the rice and dals. Add mutton, red chillies, cumin seeds and saunf. Grind to a coarse batter.
- Add curry leaves, coriander leaves, ginger garlic paste, coconut, asafoetida powder and salt.
- Saute the onions in little oil and add to the batter. Mix well and keep aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Heat a tawa over medium flame. Pour a ladleful of the batter and spread evenly. Apply oil around the edges and cook on both sides.
Recipe Tips
- Adai is an authentic South Indian breakfast dish that has several nutritious elements in it. Serve hot with chutney and sambar of choice.
