Method
- In a pan, take 30 ml of water, 25 grams of sugar and add slivers of fresh turmeric.
- Simmer till all the water has evaporated and the turmeric is nicely candied.
- Now whisk the butter and sugar together till fluffy.
- Add eggs one by one,vanilla and then fold in the sieved flour and baking powder together.
- Fold in the candied turmeric and bake in a lined 8"cake tin for 25 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
- Take orange juice in a pan along with the zest of half an orange and the flesh of 2-3 segments of the orange.
- Boil till reduced to half, then pour the hot syrup on the cake immediately after it comes out of the oven.
- Enjoy the cake hot or chilled!
